History

History of Paille Basse

During the second world war, called to be part of the D Day, the paratrooper André Bonneval joined England.
In London, he met a British lady, Doreen Brown.
After the war, Doreen married André. They lived and worked in Paris.
In 1972, in order to enjoy a well-deserved retirement, it is in this ruined hamlet of La Paille Basse, that they decided to live peacefully their last days.
Very quickly, joined by their two sons, Jean and Pierre, instead of a private house, Doreen and André Bonneval decided to restore this medieval hamlet of three farms, and turn it
into a campsite.
In 1976, the site took part of the famous chain of « Les Castels ».

It is thanks to you and to the Bonneval third generation, that La Paille Basse makes its picturesque stone village live again.  We propose to take part of this beautiful story…
